RULE BOOK

How To Play

1. Players sit around the game board, assign 1 player piece each (or if you're playing teams, assign teams to player pieces). Ensure everyone has a fresh drink before starting.

2. Put an empty cup in the middle circle on the game board, this is called the Lights Out cup! I use a 16oz cup, but use whatever you want.

3. The youngest person rolls first. Take turns playing in a clockwise rotation. Have fun!


NOT TODAY: Roll the dice again and move that amount of spaces. You also play the space that you land on. 


WARM UP: Take 1 sip of your drink.


HEAVEN: Everyone needs to point up toward the sky. The last person to point upwards has to take 1 sip of their drink.


SUNS OUT BUNS OUT: Players with Summer or Spring birthdays take 1 sip each. Play based on the seasons of the hemisphere that you’re in.


SYLLABLES: Take 1 sip of your drink for every syllable in your full name. Middle names are counted.


REUNITED: Everyone cheers and takes 2 sips of their own drinks.


OPPOSITES: If you land on this space you have to drink from your non-dominant hand for the remainder of the game. Each time someone catches you drinking from your dominant hand you must take 2 sips of your drinks. 


BIG BRAIN: Go to the TRIVIA space.


HOUSE RULES: You get to create a rule that everyone must follow for the remainder of the game. If someone else lands on this space, their rule overrides yours. 


INTROVERT: You cannot look anyone in the eye until your next roll. Each time you lock eyes with someone you must take 2 sips of your drink.


TRIVIA: Scan the QR code and play the mini-game on the website.


SLOWPOKE: The person in last place has to move their player piece forward 3 spaces. If you’re in last place, move your player piece forward 3 spaces.


SKIPPER: Choose a player to skip their upcoming turn.


BRAIN FREEZE: Pick a category (e.g. cars, books). In a clockwise rotation, everyone takes turns naming something in that category. The first person to mess up, or take longer than 3 seconds, has to take 2 sips from their drink.


POWER UP: You gained 1 re-roll valid for the remainder of the game. If you don’t like one of your future rolls, stay where you are and re-roll. You must move the amount of spaces from your re-roll.


MUTE: You cannot talk until your next roll. Each time you talk you must take 2 sips of your drink.


MAGNET: Each player moves their player pieces 3 spaces towards you. If they’re less than 3 spaces away, they join you on this space.


HELL: Point down toward the floor. The last person to point down has to take 2 sips of their drink.


POWER SURGE: Pour as much of your drink as you want into the LIGHTS OUT CUP in the middle of the game board.


ELECTRI-5: You must roll again, if you roll a 5 you have to take 2 sips of your drink. Otherwise, you’re safe this round.


W.O.M.C.: Take 1 shot. To avoid taking a shot you can twerk for 8 seconds.


T-REX: Stick your elbows to your ribs and grab your drink with your fingertips like a T-Rex. Take 2 sips of your drink and then rawr for the group.


MOST LIKELY TO: Everyone closes their eyes and you ask a question that starts with “Who’s most likely to…” Coun tdown from 3 and everyone points to the person who they think is most likely to do that thing. Everyone opens their eyes. The person with the most fingers pointed at them takes 2 sips. In the event of a tie, play rock-paper-scissors (best of 1).


BIG D: The person with the most liquid remaining in their personal drink must take 3 sips. 


FANATIC: Go to the WHO AM I space.


SING IT BACK: Scan the QR code and play the mini-game on the website.


NEIGHBORS: The players to your left and right have to take 1 sip each of their drinks. 


SAFE SPOT: Take a break this turn.


I DARE YA: All of the other players decide on a dare for you to do. If you do not wish to complete the dare, you must take 1 shot or drink half of the Lights Out cup. 


DRAINED: Add a 2x multiplier to your next drink punishment.


WHO AM I: Scan the QR code and play the mini-game on the website.


SONG BIRD: Go to the SING IT BACK space.


MAGIC 8 BALL: Roll again. If you roll an 8, finish the rest of your drink and get a new one. If you don’t roll an 8, you’re safe this round.


NO HANDS: The person to your left feeds to 2 sips of your drink. The size of the sips is up to their discretion.


PAPARAZZI: Point your phone/camera at someone and count down from 5 (loudly). After you take the photo, check who is in it. Anyone not in the photo must take 3 sips of their drink. 


ACT IT OUT: Scan the QR code and play the mini-game on the website.


GOD OF CHAOS: Swap any 2 player pieces on the gameboard, you cannot move yourself. 


1 FOR ALL: The next player's punishment applies to everyone. This does not apply if someone drinks the LIGHTS OUT cup this round. 


BIG ZAP: Pick 1 person to take 3 sips, or pick 3 people to take 1 sip each.


RHYME: Pick a word, the person to your left has to rhyme with another word. Everyone takes turns in a clockwise rotation. The first person to mess up, or take longer than 3 seconds to answer, must take 2 sips of their drink.


ICE ICE BABY: Players born in the Winter and Fall seasons must cheers and take 1 sip each. Play based on the seasons of the hemisphere that you’re in.


BUY SOME TIME: You can finish the rest of your drink to move backwards 4 spaces. Otherwise, stay here. 


BUZZER BEATER: Go back to ACT IT OUT.


LIGHTS OUT: You won the game, but at what cost? You must drink the entire contents of the LIGHTS OUT cup!
